I've lost 45 pounds, helped my husband lose 55 pounds, and guided my son to reverse his diabetes and lose 100 pounds. My Story
Hi! My name is Beth Wilding. I am the founder of the Healthy Healing Center. I wanted to give you some background as to why I feel so passionate about living a whole food, plant-based lifestyle.
I had allowed myself to gain weight that my body didn’t like or need. My joints were bothering me, and I just didn’t have the energy that I used to. Reaching the point of saying, “No more!” I began extensive research to find solutions—there is so much contradiction out there about the best way to lose weight. What I discovered was an incredible amount of science showing the benefits of a whole food, plant-based lifestyle, especially for those affected by type 2 diabetes.
Our son was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and my husband’s five siblings all have it. His mother and older brother both passed from complications of it. When I delved into the data, I found that health problems for those who are overweight and especially those who have type 2 diabetes experience a much higher chance of heart disease, premature death, blindness, kidney failure, and amputations, as well as fractures, depression and dementia. When those involved in the studies changed their diet to whole food, plant-based, their health dramatically shifted in just a matter of days. It almost made me angry. So many health and mental challenges that people experience can be avoided. I am on a mission to help as many people as I can who are suffering from the challenges of being overweight and living with diabetes to turn things around.
Since embracing a whole food, plant-based lifestyle, I’ve lost over 40 pounds, my husband has lost over 50 pounds, and by just changing our son’s diet and encouraging him to walk more, he has dropped over 100 pounds. He is no longer diabetic! He no longer needs diabetic medications. His blood sugar and A1c levels have stabilized, and he has so much more energy than before. We all have so much more energy, and the aches and pains we were experiencing are gone.
This journey has transformed my life in ways I never imagined. I have developed the skills and mindset needed to sustain long-term, healthy eating habits, along with how to train our minds to enjoy a fulfilling, vibrant life.
